Passion is like a wave. Sometimes it’s strong and powerful and other times it’s nothing more than a ripple. This is okay. There is this false idea that if you are truly passionate about something, it’s strong in your mind 100% of the time and you can’t stop thinking about it. Not true. Life gets in the way, you get distracted, or you may lose faith. It may seem gone but passion never truly goes away. It’s always there, in the back of your mind. It may be a whisper or a small flame, but it is there. When you get to this point, there are some things you can do to get your passion back to the levels it used to be.
“Know your passion. Follow it. Dream it. Live it.”
1 – Remember To Get Your Passion Back
If you want to get your passion back, then remember. Remember the feelings you had when you first became passionate about something. Try to put yourself in those moments. What emotions were you experiencing? Sometimes with the stress of life, we forget how much things really mean to us. We lose focus on our dreams and goals. A great way to remember your passion is to create a vision board and visualize every day. Make an effort to “see” it for yourself as often as you can.
2 – Work Towards It
Many of us lose passion in something because we get distracted and we forget how much we loved doing a particular thing. Drop the excuses and get back to it. Take baby steps if you have to. Have a weekly or even daily task list geared toward your passion. What one thing can you do every day to help you get your passion back?
3 – Let Go of Guilt To Get Your Passion Back
Did you stop doing something in your life because you feel guilty? You may feel you are letting your family down if you went back to school to get that degree or if you started up that hobby again. Let this go. You DESERVE to be happy too! Prioritize you for a change.
4 – Surround Yourself With People Who Have The Same Passion
Get your passion back by being around others with your passion. If your passion is photography or acting, for example, join a photography class or an acting class. Being around people who enjoy the same things will re-ignite your fire quickly. Seeing someone excited about something will naturally make you more excited. Don’t have time to meet up with others? Then join a Facebook group or an online forum. You can converse with people online.
When you are lying on your death bed, be proud and happy that you were able to do something you were passionate about. Don’t have any regrets.
